Creating Resources to Enhance a Collaboration Between LightHouse for the Blind of San Francisco and Office Depot

For over 120 years, LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired of San Francisco (“LightHouse”) has improved the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired by providing them with assistive technology, travel, and living skills training, and much more. They transform lives every day through the programs they provide their clients. Blind people need gainful employment, however, the current unemployment rate of the blind hovers near 70%. LightHouse trains many people who are blind or visually impaired to seek gainful employment, transforming lives every day through the programs they provide their clients. One way in which Lighthouse has provided the employment is through their collaboration with several cleaning products companies and the Ability One program. LightHouse manufactures and bottles cleaning products that are harmless to humans and extraordinarily effective against bacteria and viruses which are used by janitorial workers who are also disabled to clean upwards of 100 million square feet of public space every day. Office Depot was thrilled with this work and elected to carry all LightHouse products in their business-to-business distribution center. LightHouse creates a wonderful positive advantage for people who are blind or visually impaired through their training and employment opportunities.

Our Role in the Project

With our strategic approach, creative thinking, and marketing acumen, we were well placed to assist LightHouse in presenting their products to Office Depot and their stakeholders. We designed their packaging and built a compelling presentation deck for LightHouse to present their products and new packaging concepts, explaining LightHouse’s importance, value, and relevance to Office Depot. Office Depot was so impressed with LightHouse and their braille-containing packaging concepts that they brought all its products into their distribution centers immediately following the presentation. We believe in nonprofits like LightHouse and continue to be honored to amplify their important and life-changing work.
